Welcome to the era of social media, we are generation Y and Z, the instructions of living are mentioned here: you hove to, use social accounts at least 5–6 hours per day and at most 24 hours, usage below than recommended time may cause you feel deprived, Post at least 2–3 pictures per week on your social accounts otherwise people could not recognize you, Last but not the least check your social accounts before sleeping, having a meal, studying, starting any task and after waking up, meals, studying and finished any task. The ultimate goal of your life is to be in the top stories and trending list on social media. The containment level is directly proportional to the no of followers, likes, comments and shares. Thank you.

This is the perfect description of the society now a days, people regardless of their age , social and marital status are trying to be the social media influencer- with the help of inaction. Social media a platform designed for the social connection and interaction now became the mean of social distance and breach in real life. There were times when people had no enough means of communication still they were connected to each other by heart and now when they have a digital medium in hand 24/7 for communication they lost their appetite to be connected.

Social media became the important part of the life so much that it replaces one’s family, people have all day to be active on social media, but they don’t have time for their families in actual. The idea of spending time with family has been replaced by social media applications. The wholesomeness of the moments that one feel when spending time with their family, friends, relatives or loved ones has been vanished and camera flashes took it place, it seems posting pictures with loved ones is more worthy than talking with them. Same thing happened with friend circle, as time goes by the friend list growing longer and wider yet with the lack of depth. On social media one has hundreds of friends but practically in real world there is none to whom he speaks his heart out thus resulting in emptiness within oneself.

Sadly, people tend to be more expressive to reaction button on social media, but they forget to express their feelings with loved ones. This feeling of desolation brings the emotional isolation and disconnectedness in a person and it triggers some mental health issues in which the most significant is depression- where people find themselves in a place they do not belong, stress and anxiety. Other than that, emotionally detach people face personality issues like lack of face to face communication skills, distraction and decreased critical thinking. The more and more use of social media by adults takes off the sense of self ambition and purposefulness in life hence resultant in lazy and enslaved youth.

The one reason of the misuse of social media is its features and vastness that people use it as entertainment source rather than communication channel. People switches from television to the social media for the sake of entertainment and modification of applications makes them more entertaining. On one hand, entertainment is also a part of social media but on the other hand, when it becomes the ONLY part of social media it converts into alarming situation.

The excessive use of social media made us like a person who is addicted to a drug and ironically, he does not acknowledge the addiction. Now we must find a rehabilitation channel to recover the lost feeling of emotional connectedness otherwise have to be ready for the psychopathic era.
